Esan Rose, 37, a security guard with CMC Security Service, was shot and killed on Thursday afternoon while working at Lida Supermarket on Sussex Street, Georgetown.

Police say the attack happened at about 3:05 p.m. A masked gunman got off the back of a red-and-white XR motorcycle and walked into the store. He fired twice, hitting Rose once in the chest, and then ran off on foot toward Charles Street. Rose was pronounced dead at the scene. He was armed with a service pistol, but it appears he never fired it.

The supermarket’s CCTV recorded the shooting. Investigators are also checking camera footage from the surrounding area to identify the gunman and the motorcycle rider. Several people have been questioned. A relative said the shooter took nothing, which leaves the motive unclear.
